Job Description

Position Purpose

The Head CSM AgChem RM Sourcing & Vendor Devt. is responsible for developing and implementing key raw material procurement strategies / purchase schedules, ensuring that these strategies / schedules are aligned with organizational objectives while optimizing cost of procurement.

Key Responsibilities


Plan, build & execute a strategic sourcing methodology; ensure cost optimization
Identify and develop vendors for obtaining timely procurement, involved in techno-commercial negotiations and finalize contracts
Develop strategic partnerships with vendors
Develop raw material sourcing strategies, vendor identification management; establishing vendor qualification and re-qualification process
Provide support in assessing supplier quality and develop parameters for choosing the right suppliers
Plan and implement best practices in supplier quality and vendor development
Drive identification of supply chain risk and developing mitigation strategies

Operational & Financial

Ensure timely procurement of right quality of raw material and packing material as per business plan
Ensure procurement cost is well within budgeted cost
Maximize creditors day by higher credits on inputs and low inventories
Maintain ARC/AMC of service providers
Keep track on all legal aspects and ensure compliance with statutory requirements
Ensure all measures required for maintaining various ISO systems
Assist in identifying non-moving items as per norms and propose NPA in consultation with Engineering, Packaging Lab & Quality Control department
Ensure material reconciliation with sub-contractors as per defined frequency and maintenance of proper records for outsourcing
Facilitate resolution of problems related to misunderstanding or misinterpretation of product specifications or quality standards
Vendor Development
o Identify materials with vendor development needs
o Consolidate requirement across materials with vendor synergy and collate specifications
o Provide guidance for market scanning of potential vendors
o Float RFI/RFP to identified vendors
o Shortlist vendors and conduct rate negotiations
Supplier Relationship Management
o Ensure clear supplier segmentation
o Review classification of active suppliers into strategic/ critical/ leverage/ routine segments
o Support supplier performance evaluation
o Provide supplier scores on Responsiveness to assess supplier quality
o Evaluate outcome of supplier evaluation and send automated scorecards to suppliers
o Support supplier risk assessment
o Evaluate outcome of supplier risk scored and take necessary action
o Identify supplier development initiatives
o Basis outcome of supplier performance evaluation and risk assessment, identify development initiatives
o Prioritize initiatives and monitor implementation of initiatives as per annual action plan
Supplier Quality Management
o Implement quality systems and implementation for product quality consistency with outsourcing partners and suppliers
Establish annual budget for Sourcing & Vendor Development team and ensure that the team operates within the budget


Inform & discuss supplier quality related matters with suppliers & internal customers
Facilitate initiatives for training need identification and building requisite skills & competencies through systematic training & skill-upgradation initiatives for the team
Actively drive, in conjunction with the Senior Management Team, the performance management process of the team
Recognize & reward excellent performers & affirm key contributions of employees toward the achievement of goals & objectives of the team
Inspire & motivate employees through demonstrated commitment to PIs values, vision & mission and active participation in various team engagement activities

Educational Qualification

B. Tech/B.E. Mechanical/ Chemical
PG - MBA/PGDM Graduate (Supply Chain/ Operations)

Previous Experience
18 + years of experience in the field of raw material sourcing from India & abroad
Experience in sourcing chemical raw material from global market is essential

Industry to be hired from
Preferable chemical/pharma industry

Functional Competencies

Strong negotiation skills
Experience in demand forecasting tools
Experience in procurement from India & foreign countries; in particular China
Sound knowledge of import procedure and documentation
Exposure in purchasing chemicals in bulk
Knowledge of SAP
Strong analytical skill sets

Salary: INR 35,00,000 - 60,00,000 P.A. No bar for right candidates
